TONGAN CHOIR WILL SING IN AUCKLAND
PARTY ON AORANGI A choir of 30 boys will be passing through Auckland en route for Sydney by the Aorangi, due in port on Sunday next. The boys are under the charge of the principal of the Tonga Methodist College, where they are all students. They will give a number of concerts in the chief centres of the Commonwealth in the interest of Foreign Missions. One concert will be given in Auckland on the Monday night. A programme of great interest has been prepared for presentation in tht concert chamber of the Town Hall. It will include classical English tunes as well as true Tongan music and boatsongs. A sketch showing Tongan ceremonies and pastimes will be given. This will show the ceremonial presentation of food to the Crown Prince of Tonga, who is one of their number, the “kava” ceremony, and a number of games. Music will be provided by drums, conch-shells and flutes.
