OTAHUHU WAR MEMORIAL
STATUE NOW IN POSITION UNVEILING ARRANGED The work of erecting the war meimorial at Otahuhu has been undertaken, and the magnificent statue, weighing in the vicinity of four ton, has been placed on the concrete base prepared some time ago for its reception. A great deal of interest locally was manifested in the job, which was com-
menced by the Fletcher Construction Company yesterday afternoon, the heavy figure being lifted to its appointed place without difficulty. The concrete base has been ready for some time, and occupies portion of the reserve now adorned by the Nixon monument. When the new memorial is erected it will form an impressive spec-, tacle, and will be a true adornment to the town of Otahuhu. The monument, which was presented by a prominent citizen, was made in London to the express order of the donor, and is made of solid cast bronze. The official unveiling is to be performed on Anzac Day, and endeavours are being made to have present His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson.
