"There is practically little trade bexng done in Samoa at present!” he remarked. Many of the natives had not paid last year’s taxes, he said, and they were refusing to pay fines. A certain amount of copra was being produced. NOTHING TO SAY This morning Mr. O. F. Nelson was busily engaged attending to business at his Auckland office. He had no comment to make on the Prime Minister’s statement, which was issued, on the day Mr. Nelson and Mr. A. G. Smyth arrived in Auckland. While in New Zealand Mr. Nelson Is not subject to any ban. When he finished his official business he will go to Wellington to consult his solicitor.
