UNION OF CHURCHES
IRISH PRIMATE’S OPINION “WOULD DESTROY PROTESTANT CHARACTER” By Cable.- Press Association.- Copyright. LONDON, Monday. The Belfast correspondent cf “The Times” says the Primate of All Ireland, Dr. C. F. D’Arcy, Archbishop of Armagh, states: “It is startlingly clear that the succesful outcome of the Malines conversations on the reunion of the Churches would destroy the Protestant character of the Church of England, and also would completely alter the position of all the Churches connected with it. The Church of Ireland will have nothing to do with the Malines negotiations. History will show that the English people, while tolerant and slow to move, will never surrender their freedom or bend their necks beneath spirtual despotism.”—Times.
