DELEGATES CONFER 1929 CHAMPIONSHIP VENUE WELLINGTON’S TURN Press Association. DUNEDIN, To-day. A conference of centres of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Associaioon was held yesterday, Mr. W. Bishop, president of the Dominion Council, in the chair. The New Zealand National Championships for 1929 were allotted to Wellington, a remit from Canterbury also being carried that the New Zealand championships be held in February instead of January as at present. A remit from Canterbury that a registration fee of Is for each senior declared member be paid proportionately, 50 per cent, to the council and 50 per cent, to the contributing centre, was lost. A further remit from Hawke’s Bay, that registration fees be abolished, was also lost. A motion was carried that the council suggest to the centres the desirability of arranging deputations to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education asking them to make swimming cumpulsory in the schools where facilities exist. A suggestion to the council was also carried that a women’s back-stroke event be included in the national championship programme.
