The list of the deaths due to the intense cold during the last few days throughout the United States has reached 72, and is expected to rise *fter the re-establishment of disrupted ; (communications. At least 150 persons were injured tn railroad wrecks due to the storm, principally about Chicago. ' Great suffering is felt in the south, tu cities unequipped to fight the unusual cold. Charitable institutions are taxed throughout the country. The told is expected to continue another 81 hours.—A. and N.Z.
