VICTORIA BEATS SOUTH SHEFFIELD SHIELD By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. MELBOURNE, Tuesday. In the Sheffield Shield match, Victoria against South Australia, in which the home team had made 637 in the first innings and South Australia 391, the visitors in their second innings made 283 (Schneider 143, Harris 74; Morton three for 57, Ironmonger three for 67). Victoria won by an innings and 35 runs. The weather was fine and the wicket good, but the scoring was painfull! slow'. The Southerners fought unavailingly to avert an outright defeat. Schneider played a sound fighting innings and appeared well set when stumped.—A. and N.Z.
