WHERE AUCKLANDERS WILL BE AMUSED
HOLIDAY FIXTURES In the Holiday fixtures Aucklanders are favoured with a wide variety of sports. A whole week of racing and trotting beginning on Monday will provide amusement for many. There will be four days of tennis beginning this afternoon, which will decide the holders of Auckland handicap titles, and the bowlers will hold their Christmas tourney on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Cricket fans will have the Suburban country tournament, beginning on Monday, in which two Auckland teams will meet Waipa and Franklin teams, and on Friday next Otago and Auckland will begin a match in the Plunket Shield series. In the following week the Auckland swimming championships will begin. To-day the ocean race for yachts from Auckland to Russell and Tauranga will begin, and regattas will be held at each of the destinations. Indoors the evening programmes of the various picture houses will be in keeping with the season. “Rose Marie” will hold the boards at His Majesty’s Theatre, and for those who wish for sterner fare there will be the meeting of those two giants of the mat, Pergantas and Ern Anderson, who will wrestle on Monday evening.
