TRAIN LOADS OF WINE
SMUGGLED FROM FRANCE EXTENSIVE OPERATIONS By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright PARIS, Tuesday. French customs detectives have discovered that French and Spanish wines are being smuggled into Germany by the trainload. The -wine is contained in kegs, which are placed in tank cars. The latter are filled up with industrial alcohol and passed as such by the customs officials. It is believed this practice has been carried out for three years, and that wine worth £1,000,000 has been smuggled from the country.—A. and N.Z.
