SPORT AT WELLINGTON FAULTS IN ORGANISATION Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. Wellington was introduced to whippet racing last evening, but it was hardly a success, owing to inefficient organisation. So much time was lost stringing the tapes for the course, taking dogs to and from the sarting point, and removing the tapes again to allow other items to proceed, that it became wearisome, and in the end, of the three events only two were run. Even then spectators were detained on the . ground till nearly 11 p.m. It was obvious this sport must be kept to itself, and cannot be mixed with others. The dogs, which are small, flash by at 15 yards a second, and the actual running over all only takes a few minutes altogether, which is out of all proportion to the time wasted in waiting for it to begin.

The authorities responsible for the whippet racing at the Auckland Summer Show point out that none of the faults obvious at Wellington will occur here, as the course has been set aside for the dogs alone, and all delays will be obviated.
