• On the motion of the Minister of Mines Hon. G. J. Anderson, the House disagreed with the amendments made to tire Coalmines Amendment Bill by the Legislative Council. The Minister said he had discussed the question with legal men and had found that 11 the amended clause went through it might retard the payment of the wages of coalminers for a considerable period in cases where debentures were issued, and in some cases it might even prevent their payment.
