FOOTBALLERS’ ANNUAL BALL The gaily-decorated Orplteum Hall at Onehunga saw a record attendance «*f members and supporters of the Manukau Rovers' Football Club on the occasion of its annual ball last evening. Mr. J. K. Green, the club’s president, in the unavoidable absence of its patron, Mr. \V. J. Jordan, M.P., In presenting the trophies won during the past season, referred to the marked progress beii.c made by the <4ub. This was principal.y due to the fine spirit of co-operation shown by the players, together with thenoutstanding enthusiasm for the game, ai d the will to win. In presenting the Pollard Cup to the captain of the senior team, Mr. C. Hoasham, Mr. Green referred to the team’s proud achieverrwat in winning this coveted trophy, and he felt that h - fore very long Manukau's name would be enrolled in the A section. Mr. F. Vickery received the Whit tor. e Cup on behalf of the fifth grade team, and Mr. E. Greenlaw was congratutat on his services as coach, in producing such a sterling body of footballers. The Jordan Cup, for the best club i the Manukau electorate, was also v, bv the Manukau Rovers, and was ?e----ceived by Mr. C. J. Williams, the club' energetic secretary. Medals for the most improved playe. in the following grades were awarded as follows: Seniors, Cliff: >.h. ' grade, best player E. Brimble. most m proved platver A. Penny; fourth grade.
