MEMBERSHIP NOW 1,635 DIRECTORS' MEETING The monthly meeting of the Young Men’s Christian Association, held last evening, commenced with a special observance of the world’s week of prayer. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth presided. The membership in the boys’ division was said to be 652, and a programme of club activities, indoor athletics, cricket and preparation for camp had been arranged. In the young men’s divuCon there had been a good year. Club members had given £35 to work in Fiji. There were four clubs, with a weekly average of 60, engaged in Bible study, athletics and debates. In the physical department the enrolment was 291, the average weekly attendance being 210. The other reports showed that good work was being done. There had been billiard and ping-pong tournaments and the Optimist Club had given concerts at the Jubilee Institute, Mental Hospital and Mount Eden Gaol. The total membership of the association was reported to be 1,635. The Community Club reported on Big Brother work, work at the military camp at North Head, immigration work and the boys’ hostel.

The treasurer, Mr. R. H. Horsby, presented a statement which showed that the association was £SOO within its budget. With the assistance of some legacies that had become due he would be able to show a substantial reduction in the overdraft at the annual meeting, to be held on November 28.
