WAITEMATA POWER LOAN

ADDRESS AT GLEN EDEN

Details in regard to the proposed loan of £BO,OOO for which the sanction of the ratepayers is being sought on November 17, were outlined by members of the Waitemata Power Board at a meeting in the Glen Eden Town Hall last evening. The chairman of the town board, Mr. W. E. Shepherd, presided. Representing the Power Board were Messrs. J. W. Hayden, chairman; W. R. T. Leighton, representative for the district; A. E. Greenslade, and the engineer, Mr. F. W Wilson In introducing the Power Board representatives, Mr Shepherd commended the proposed loan to the favourable consideration of the district. Mr. Hayden said that taking past and current revenue as a guide the board expected to pay its way at the end of three years. For the present year a profit of £7,000 was estimated, notwithstanding the fact that the board had the cheapest rate in New Zealand for domestic purposes. If the loan were carried the board hoped to be able to reduce the charge next March to Id per unit. A vote of thanks was accorded to the members of the board and the chairman WAITAKERE APPROVES At a meeting of Waitakere ratepayers also held last evening, and which was presided over by Mr. H. King, J.P., it was resolved, after hearing Messrs. Mackie and Robertson, members of the zoard, “that those present approve of the proposed loan, and will do their utmost to see that all ratepayers in the area record their votes on polling day."
