MOUNT ROSKILL AND CITY
Sir.— As one who played no small part In getting the signatures for the recent poll on rating on unimproved values in Mount Albert and as one who will shortly play no small part in the same job In Mount Eden and the city, uermit me to give my candid opinion of the proposal for Mount Roskill to join the city. It is really a proposal to defeat rating on unimproved values in disguise. The same gentleman who so vigorously opposed exempting improvements from taxation is at the head of this movement. Mount Kden is between Mount Roskill and the city, out we will not join. We heavily defeated the proposal at a poll not long ago. Surely the ratepayers can see what the subtle move Is! If they will go to the trouble to analyse the suggestion they will reject it E. STEVENSON
