WORK FOR UNEMPLOYED A TOUR OF INSPECTION Prior to deciding on what works aro next to be put in hand for unemployed, representatives of the Mayor's Committee yesterday viewed “he various areas under report from the city engineer, Mr. W. The area haw been reported on as most suitable for the erection of a huge stadium, with a cycle track 468yds round, and inside this a cinder truck of exactly a quarter of a mile* Inside this again is an area big enough for three football or hockey grounds, fronting Great North Hoad. Point Chevalier football area was then visited, and Waiatarua Park. The park, according to what the party was told, requires the lowering of the lake level, and the building of the road round the lake. As the committee has already expressed aa opinion against employing men on road works, the park it not very likely to see any unemployed this year.

SIXTY MEN AT DOMAIN Sixty men were found to be employed at the Domain, where the work is already taking definite shape. The road entrance from the west has been formed, and metallecl with scoria, and down this about 5,000 cubic yards of spoil will be carted and added to the supply from the new winter garden site, the whole being used to fill in the area on the top side; of the lake.
