The estimated sales, are:—Home trade, 76,000 bales; for export, 52,000. There were held 16,00.0 bales. Yorkshire took the bulk of the crossbreds, both greasy and slipes. German and Alsatian competition for the finer sorts of Merinos was very strong. Yorkshire also bought these keenly. Greasy combing: Merinos closed at full opening rates with a hardening tendency. Best scoured sorts appreciated throughout and are now about 5 per cent, above the July rates. Short and faulty Merinos are unchanged. Fine crossbreds are fully 5 per cent. up.
