WORK FOR THE SICK

HOSPITAL AUXILIARY TO-MORROW’S COLLECTION To-morrow will be collection day for the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary. Already upwards of a thousand patients at. the Auckland Hospital and Infirmary—men, women and children—have become to know what the auxiliary stands for. Those little extra comforts which mean so much to th patient, confined for months —perhaps years, to a sick bed. are made possible through this organisation Many of the patients in the hospital are not only ill. but also in poor circumstances, particularly so when the wage-earner of the family is laid aside. One of the main objects of the [auxiliary is to brighten the lives of the i patients by providing such comforts, [ and it is for this purpose that to-mor-j row’s appeal to the public is being made. I In addition to its hospital work this ' organisation also sets out to help the ‘patients over the period of con vales- ! cence when they return to their homes. I At this stage of its existence the i need for funds is urgent, but. it is I hoped that a generous response from | the public, whose sympathy can surely ibe counted upon, will result in the auxiliary being placed in such a position that will' enable it to efficiently carry out the self-imposed task it has undertaken.
