BODY-BUILDER FILES

MOTOR-BUS ACT BLAMED John Henry Weaver, a bankrupt motor-body builder, of Auckland, who met his creditors this morning, attributed his failure, in a large measure, to the Motor Omni- - bus Act of 1924. Mr. A. Holmes, a creditor, presided in the absence of the Official Assignee. Mr. G. N. Morris. Bankrupt’s schedule showed £231 owing to unsecured creditors. The assets consisted of stock £155 and book debts £6. The deficiency was £7O. In his statement Weaver said that he started his business in Park Road after a life-long experience of coach work. His capital consisted of between £SO and £IOO cash, and a complete set of tools. Trade prospered until the passing of the Motor Omnibus Act., when all uncompleted bus orders were cancelled and business immediately fell off. To add to his troubles he had a serious illness last November, which laid him up for four months. After some discussion creditors decided to place the estate in the hands of the assignee for disposal. The meeting was adjourned sine die.
