New Zealand v. Wales TOURISTS’ IMPOSSIBLE TASK Three Hours To Get 235 THE cricket match between New Zealand and Wales at Llandudno ended in a draw. Wales’ second innings yielded 183, being declared closed with nine wickets down. New Zealand was left three hours to get 234 runs and found the task an impossible cine. The Welsh captain declared, leaving the New Zealanders three hours to get 235 runs. To face this order the opening batsmen (Dempster and Mills) got really busy. They found forcing tactics by far the most successful, and

added 79 in 70 minutes, without the loss of a wicket. After tea it was soon evident that it was hopeless to get to the finish against the most accurate howling, and. all hope disappeared, with Dempster’s dismissal, so a draw was declared soon after 6 o’clock.
