DRAWING POWER
CROWD AT COMMUNITY SING STRAND THEATRE FULL If a theatrical producer were lucky enough to put on a show with the drawing power of the “community sings” at the Strand Theatre, he would retire w r ith diamond rings, fat cigars and limousines in a few months. To-day’s sing went with a swing, thanks to the controlling power of the song leader, Mr. Vernon Drew. The Hon. George Fowlds exerted a restraining influence as the chairman, or the volume of sound and enthusiasm might have carried the roof away. The soloist, Miss Myra Monk, sang sweetly and Mrs. Osborne played the piano. The theatre was packed and a big collection was taken up in aid of unendowed charities.
