USE OF OUTER DOMAIN DEPUTATION TO COUNCIL As a result of a deputation from the Auckland Cricket Association to the Parks Committee of the Auckland City Council yesterday, it is expected that an additional ten cricket pitches will be made available during the coming seaMr. N. C. Snedden said that the two main difficulties were the provision of the right soil and sufficient labour to ensure that the wickets would receive proper treatment. The deputation was aware „of the fact that the council was alive to the need of more playing areas, and quoted Grey Lynn Park and the new area at Point Chevalier as examples. Mr. Snedden also referred to the Outer Domain, immediately adjoining the Domain proper. This area would provide a large number of wickets, but it would need to be ploughed .and resown. In this instance no outlay was necessary for purchasing the ground. An assurance of the committee’s sympathy with the suggestions was given by the chairman, Mr. F. W. Brinsden, who stated that the present council was anxious not only to provide playing areas for Auckland, but 'also to place the grounds in as good a form as possible to suit each branch of sport.
