Further winners are to be found from the matches between R. Kissling and A. O. Horspool, and between C. W. Garrard and R. Garrard (father and son). C. W. Garrard is a much-improved player and the match is causing a lot of interest. In the junior championship Dr. Horton has entered the third round, having defeated J. R. Rendell after a very close game. An interesting match in the second round was between C. Biernacki and H. Wright. The former had a very easy win in the first round, but in the second Wright stuck to him, winning the last three holes and finishing all square. Their second round should prove interesting. IT. E. Goodwin is again in the limelight, winning easily in last Saturday’s bogey match. Pupuke Ladies In the L.G.U. medal round played on Wednesday by the members of the Pupuke Ladies’ Golf Club, the best cards returned were:—Miss B. M. McDonnell, 109-35, 74: Mrs. Craven, 110-30, SO; Mrs. Perman, 99-19, 80. The approaching and putting competition was won by Mrs. Rutherford with a score of 20. HOLING IN ONE The golfing feat known as “holing out in one” appears to be so difficult of accomplishment that it is surprising to find that it has been performed 779 times during the past twelve months in the British Isles alone. Early last summer, Messrs. John Walker and Sons, Ltd., the Scottish whisky distillers, offered a free gift of a bottle of “Johnnie Walker” to any golfer performing this "semi-miracle,” and since then 779 attested claims have been honoured.
