A series of resolutions was received by the New Zealand Rugby Union this evening from the New Zealand Rugby Referees’ Association, concerning the ordering off the field of two players in the Ranfurly Shield match at Masterton on July 9 by Mr. H. J. McKenzie, and making certain suggestions regarding support for referees in such matches. The communication was received, and it was decided that the association be informed that the New Zealand Union had already taken action in the matter. A protest from the Wellington Referees* Association against the • whitewashing’’ of players ordered off the field in this match was also received. and it was decided to reply that action had already been taken. At a meeting of the Thames Valley Referees’ Association, the following resolution was carried without dissent: —"The members of the Thames Valley Referees’Association feel it our duty in the interests of all Rugby referees in New Zealand to enter our emphatic protest against the findings of the Hawke’s Bay and Wairarapa Rugbv Unions in exonerating M. Brownlie and Q. Donald when they had been ordered off by Mr. Bert. McKenzie in the Ranfurly Shield match between the two unions. We consider that the referee has not been treated fairly in this Instance, and we expect the New Zealand Rugby Referees’ Association to take a determined stand in the matter.* - AUCKLAND RUGBY MANAGEMENT MEETS BUSINESS FOR THE WEEK The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union was held last night, Mr. H. Frost presiding. The following itinerary for the representative tour of the Bay of Plenty was approved:—August 26, leave Auckland; August 27, play at Rotorua: August 30, play at Opotiki; September 3. play at Tauranga; Septemtember 1. play at Whakatane; Sepber 4, return to Auckland by steamer. Mr. J. L. Potter will be manager, and 19 players will make the trip.
