EAST ENGLAND BATSMEN NEW ZEALAND 131 FOR FIVE \ T EW ZEALAND, in' its match against the East of England team, got its opponents out for 170 runs, and in its first innings has lost five wickets for 131. made up for losing the toss by dismissing four batsmen before lunch. Dacre, Lowry, and Merritt bowled well. Carnegie-Brown was responsible for 32 of the first 48 runs scored. He hit six fours. The home side were all out in 200 minutes. The visitors started badly. Dempster was well set when he was run out. Lowry was caught in the slips off his glove. Half the side were out for 57, but Dacre and Page then became associated and were undefeated when stumps were drawn. Dacre played splendidly all round the wicket. Page played some good forcing strokes.
