“JUST TOO WONDERFUL!”

“MISS AUCKLAND 1927” BILLIE ANDREASSON SPEAKS LITTLE DANISH GIRL’S SUCCESS “TT all seems too wonderful. .1 •*- cannot yet realise that I am off to Wellington on Monday night.” Billie Andreasson, winner of THE SUN’S “Miss Auckland 1927” contest, was still inclined to be just a little tearful to-day. It was impossible, she confessed, to put her thoughts into words. Together with her Maid of Honour. Miss Hildred Graham, Miss Andreas“JUST TOO WONDERFUL”

son will proceed to Wellington next week to meet the southern cities representatives in the “Miss New Zeal.and 1927” contest. There was not the sparkle of victory in the eye of “Miss Auckland” to-day. Rather was she a little pensive when she thought of the unsuccessful candidates. As far as she was concerned, said Miss Andreasson, she had been treated with courtesy and consideration by her companions. There was certainly no occasion for complaint as far as she was personally concerned. “The girls were all splendid to me.” she remarked. Billie Andreasson is a New Zealander by adoption only. She arrived in the Dominion from Denmark at a comparatively early age. “Miss Auckland” was educated in this city, however, and has remained in the country ever since, except when she went to Melbourne to appear in another film contest. Dancing is her principal interest, though she confesses to a keen desire to appear on the screen and stage. “This work is what I like.” she says, “and if I win the competition I will devote myself to it.” As “Miss Auckland” was unable to do more than merely thank her sup porters at the Majestic and Regent Theatres last night, she wishes to say how much she appreciates being placed by Aucklanders in such a proud position.

“I cannot say how delighted l am to be ‘Miss Auckland,’ and you can rest assured thai. I will do my best to uphold the dignity of the position.”

“Miss Auckland” is sorry though that there is not another week of the contest. “I have enjoyed it so much,” she says, “that I do not want to go away—not yet at any rate!”
