Air temperature at 9 a.m., 59 decrees. Temperature in shade yesterday. Maximum. 57 degrees; minimum, 51 degrees; maximum temperature in sun, 95 degrees. Bright sunshine yesterday, 2 hours 30 minutes. Minimum temperature on grass, 47 degrees. Direction of wind at 9 a.m., north. Velocity wind previous 24 hours, 87 miles. Rainfall during previous 24 hours, .09 inches. PACIFIC COAST STEAMERS.— The Union Company advises the following movements of its steamers engaged in the trans-Pacific cargo services: The Waitemata left San Francisco on June 21 for Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. She is due at Auckland on July 17. The Waihemo, from the Pacific Coast, arrived at Wellington yesterday .morning, and is expected to leave to-day for Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, Bluff and New Plymouth, to complete her discharge. The Wairuna left Fanning Island on June 30 for Vancouver and San Francisco. She is due at Vancouver on July 17. The Hauraki, from Melbourne and Adelaide, is due at Sydney on July 18, nd is expected to clear the latter port about July 23 for Fiji, thence Fanning Island, Vancouver and San Francisco. The Waiotapu will leave Sydney on Tuesday next for Fiji, Vancouver and San Francisco. She is due at Suva on July 19. The forward loading dates at the Pacific Coast are approximately as follow: The Wairuna will load at Vancouver •• nd San Francisco during the present month for Papeete,. Auckland (possibly , Wellington). Melbourne and Sydney. The Waiotapu will load at Vancouver and San Francisco during August for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. The Waihemo will load at Van-

couver and San Francisco during late August, and early September for Apia, Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth. The Hauraki will load at Vancouver and San Francisco in September for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. The Waitemata will load at Vancouver and San Francisco in September and October for Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney.
