“Daily Mail” did not receive favourably Harry Lauder’s reappearance on the London stage. Under the heading “A Patient Audience” the dramatic critic comments:

“Sir Harry, who protested that he could not ‘wax eloquent,’ said among other things: “ ‘lt is 27 years since I first came to London, and I am still at the top.

4< ‘I have succeeded admirably. “ ‘I a|r * not going to spend any more money advertising.’ “It is true that he smiled after most of his remarks, but an audi~ ence less friendly might not hav/j taken them so good-naturedly. “His performance, to, was a little disappointing. He sang half a dozen songs, four of them old ones, but he did not seem to have quite the grip he used to hav/e.
