VICTORIA LEAGUE RECEPTION SIR JAMES AND LADY PARR Lady Jersey received the guests at a very successful “At Home” on Thursday, May 26, given by the Victoria League to meet Sir James Parr. High Commissioner for New Zealand, and Lady Parr. A large number of guests were present, and, as is usual with any entertainment given by the Victoria League, they all seemed to be well amused and to be enjoying themselves.
Lady Jersey was wearing a brown frock with a black hat. Lady Parr had on a black crepe de chine gown partly relieved with fawn colour, and she carried a bouquet of roses which was presented to her on arrival. The league’s energetic and popular secretary, Miss Drayton, was in black and white. Among those present were the Dowager Lady Leconfield, the Hon. Mrs. Hugh Wyndham, the Hon. Emily Ward, the Hon. Agnes Leigh, the High Commissioner for Canada, Mrs. and Miss Larkin, the High Commissioner for South Africa and Mrs. Smit, and the High Commissioner for South Rhodesia and Lady Newton.
