INDIGNATION IN FRANCE DAUDET ESCAPE SEQUEL By Cable.—Press Association.—CopyriQkt LONDON, Thursday. The Paris correspondent of the ‘ Daily Mail” reports a peculiar development in connection with the recent escape from prison through a hoax of M. Leon Daudet, the Roy&lfat author-journalist. A telephone operator at the office of M. Daudet’g newspaper, “Action Francaise,” Madame Moutard, wa- s suspected of complicity in the Royalist plot which resulted in the release of her employer. With her baby she was sent to gaol. The woman has now been released, owing to repeated attacks upon the Ministry in the newspapers and also in the Chamber of Deputies. The members of the Chamber of all poetical shades of opinion, combined in protests against the imprisonment oi the baby. The correspondent says a Ministerial crisis was avoided in the House only because the members did no *~. e sire a change of Government while the Electoral Bill was under discussion.—Sun.
