PERSONAL.— Mr. L. Kidson has signed on as second officer o£ the Maheno.

TOFUA LEAVES SUVA. —Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the Island passenger steamer Tofua sailed from Suva at 6 p.m. yesterday for Auckland, where she is due next Monday. CUMBERLAND POSTPONED. Now at Wellington completing her loading for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow, Manchester, and Liverpool, the departure of the Federal steamer Cumberland has been postponed until next Monday evening. She was originally to sail at daybreak on Sunday. WHANGAPE DUE TO-NIGHT.— According to a radio message received by the Union Company, the steamer Whangape arrives at Auckland at eight o’clock to-night from Newcastle. After discharge here she returns to the coal port to load for Auckland again.

CARGO FROM SOUTH AUSTRALIA.—The Union Company advises that the steamer Kartigi, en route from Adelaide and Wallaroo, is due at Stanley (Tasmania) on Sunday next, and is expected to clear Melbourne finally on July 14 for Auckland direct. Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin.

W A IT EM AT A FROM PACIFIC COAST. —The Union Company expects the steamer Waitemata to arrive at Auckland on July 17 from Pacific Coast ports, and after discharge here she proceeds to Napier, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney to complete. VANCOUVER STEAMER. —The Union Company advises that the R.M.S. Maunganui is expected to reach Auckland on Monday, July 18, from Vancouver, via ports, and is announced to sail at noon the following day for Sydney.

REMUERA TO-MORROW.— Now due at Auckland to-morrow from Picton, the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the liner Remuera will complete her loading at this port, and finally depart from Auckland on July 16, for Southampton and London, via Panama.

CAMBRIDGE REPORTS.— The New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised by radio that the Federal steamer Cambridge expects to arrive at Auckland at 6 a.m. on Wednesday. July 13. from Liverpool. The vessel is bringing West of England cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. MATAKANA DELAYED. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Matakana has been delayed, and now leaves Wellington to-day for Timaru and Port Chalmers, to complete her loading. She is scheduled to sail finally from the Otago port on July 16 for London, via Monte Video and Teneriffe.

WAIHEMO AT WELLINGTON.— From Pacific Coast ports via Apia I (Samoa) the Union Company’s steamer j Waihemo arrived at Wellington this morning, and. after discharge, later \ proceeds to Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin. Farmers’ Auctioneering Company expects the C. and D. Line steamer Port Hardy to arrive at Auckland to-mor-row from Gisborne to complete loading. She is scheduled to sail finally from here on Tuesday July 12 for New York, Boston and London via Panama.

BEARPORT COMING.— CabIe advice received by Henderson and Macfarlane states that the American steamer Bearport sailed from Los Angeles last Monday with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Brisbane. She is expected to arrive at this port on July 29.

CHENISTON DUE TO-MORROW.— With a cargo of phosphates for discharge at Auckland and Lyttelton the steamer Cheniston is due here noon to-morrow from Makatea Island and will berth at the Central Wharf. Henderson and Macfarlane will be the local agents.

PERSIAN PRINCE REPORTS.— Henderson and Macfarlane have been advised by radio that the steamer Persian Prince expects to arrive at Auckland early Monday morning from Nauru Island. The vessel is bringing a cargo of phopshates for discharge at Auckland and Wanganui.

WEST HENSHAW RADlOS.—According to a radio message received by Henderson and Macfarlane the American steamer West Henshaw expects to arrive at Auckland midnight on Sunday from Pacific Coast ports. She will berth at the Prince’s Wharf to land the local portion of her cargo and later proceed to Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge. HIFOFUA’S TRIAL RUN.— The new motor-vessel which has just been built for the Tongan Government underwent successful trials on the harbour yesterday afternoon. She attained a maximum speed of 10.29 knots, and averaged 8.36 knots for the whole three hours’ run. The Hifofua is commanded by Captain J. Woodhouse and Mr. W. Murdack is chief engineer. The remainder of the crew are Islanders. The vessel will come alongside Queen’s Wharf to-morrow and take on provisions for the voyage to the Islands. Messrs. Robert Millar and Company Consular Agents for the Tongan Government, expect to despatch the motorvessel for Tonga early next week.

She is due back at Onehunga at 6 o’clock on Sunday morning and sails again at 4 p.m. on Monday for Raglan, Kawhia and Port Waikato.

The Anchor Line steamer Kaitoa sailed yesterday afternoon for Picton only. Messrs. Russell and Sorriers advises that she is due back at Onehunga next Wednesday to load for Nelson and West Coast

The Arapawa sailed early this afternoon for Wanganui after completing the discharge of a cargo of Westport coal. She is expected hack again on Tuesday
