SPACE FILLING UP PROGRESS OF ARRANGEMENTS PREPARATIONS for the Auckland -*• Winter Exhibition to be held in j the sheds on Central Wharf from July , 21 to July 80 are well advanced. Display space is booked up and np- ; plications continue to roll in from firms j anxious to show their goods. The Prime Minister, the Hon. J. O. Coates, has already promised that he I will endeavour to be present to open the show, but failing that he would try to arrange with th<* Hon. A. D. [ McLeod, Minister of Lands, to do so. MAORIS TO ASSIST The opening ceremony to be held at - o’clock will be an interesting function. The Maoris, of the district have been asked to participate. Their contribution will probably take the form of a welcome to the official party on its entry, to be followed by a haka. The Ponsonby Boys* Band has been engaged to supply music for the ceremony. but the usual orchestras will be dispensed with and a special loudspeaker. by which music will be broadcast through the sheds, has been installed. ENTRIES SATISFACTORY The fun of the fair has had the attention of a special committee and a good selection of side-shows, all of a distinctly amusing or interesting nature. has been arranged. Entries for farm produce and homo industries exhibition have come forward very satisfactorily, the only decrease being in the root crops section. The joint committee of the exhibition met to-day and adopted the manager’s report on the progress made. It was ararnged that district courts should be allowed to hang any trophies of the chase as ornaments on the outside ef their courts provided that they were placed seven feet above the ground.
