SMASH IN A FOG
MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED CORONER’S VERDICT Thomas E. Short, aged 40, of 24 Halston Road, Alount Eden, died on June 18 as a result of injuries received in a collision between his motor-cycle and a motor-lorry at the corner of Alount Albert and Three Kings Roads. At an inquest yesterday, the coroner, Air. W. R. McKean, S.M., returned a verdict of accidental death. John Francis Foley, the driver of the lorry, said that there was fog about, at the time of the accident. He was travelling at from 10 to 12 miles and hour. Suddenly a motor-cycle, travelling at a high rate of speed on its wrong side, came into view. Witness swerved, but he could not avoid a collision.
