“TOCH”

BIRTHDAY GATHERING Auckland Toe H celebrated its second birthday last evening, when a large gathering assembled at the Pris- . cilia Tearooms. The guest of honour was the Rev. “Pat” Leonard, who is paying a hurricane visit to the Dominion in the interests of the Toe H movement. Mr. H. Dyer, secretary of the Auckland branch, welcomed the visitor in a happy little speech. In responding the Rev. Pat Leonard referred to the great pleasure he experienced in again visiting New Zealand. He retained many happy memories of his former visit about two years ago, in company with “Tubby” Clayton, the founder of Toe H. It was the latter who had left with the Rev. George Coats, of Auckland, the desire to further the movement in this city, and already great strides had i been made. His own (the Rev. Leon- i ard’s) trip to-day was authorised by I Toe H, England, who held lent him to I be the Federal padre to TocrftH in i Australia for twelve months. ENGLAND OF THE PACIFIC New Zealand, stated Mr. Deonard, is destined to become the England of the Pacific. It is to the Dominion that the countries of the Pacific will look for that idealism and leadership without which any community is bankrupt. Toe H is a world-wide movement and is already firmly established in North and South America, India, the Malayan States and the Continent of Europe. It is a living memorial to the men of our country who fought for great ideals and will serve to keep alive this spirit in the minds and hearts of the rising generation. Music, cards and dancing were indulged in during the evening and an enjoyable supper was served. Among the many present were: Mrs. George Coats, wearing a gown of black satin and georgette. Mrs. Coleman, black gown of satin charmeuse. Miss Winifred Averil, in a frock of hehotrope crepe de chine and an apricot Miss Cook, Dunedin, frock of salmon pink charmante. Miss I.
