CARGO PILLAGING
FIGURES DISPUTED The honour of the Auckland Harbour Board has been assailed. Recently a statement was made in the Magistrate's Court that •luring the last 12 months, £3,949 had been lost through cargo pillaging at Auckland. Offices of the various shipping companies state that not five per cent, of the pillage actually took place in Auckland. At a meeting of the board yesterday the traffic manager wrote stating that paragraphs in the papers relating to th«> pillage of cargo at Auckland might be misconstrued. Most of the cargo pillaging was done either at the port of shipment or on the high seas. The only member who seemed to doubt the statement that not five per cent, of the pillaging occurred in Auckland was Mr. Campbell Johnstone. who remarked that some good hauls had been made at Auckland.
