THE NEW REGENT

ANOTHER TEST FOR SEMIFINALISTS Packed to the doors again last evening, the Regent Theatre presented, the four semi-finalists in the “Miss New Zealand, 1927,” screen quest, in another unique test, in which each of the girls received rounds of applause. The final scene in which they appeared together was the signal for a great demonstration. To-night the Regent will present the semi-finalists in yet another test, under the usual studio conditions. Patrons are reminded that there remain but two more nights on which they will have the opportunity to record their votes for “Miss Auckland” and her “Maid, of Honour.” The great British production* “London,” adapted from the gripping story of a Limehouse waif who becomes a Mayfair belle, written by Thomas Burke, continues to enthral the crowded audiences. The musical programme is exceptionally attractive, the Operatic Orchestra, under the baton of Maurice Guttridge, playing the overture “Romantique,” by Keler Bela, and Eddie Horton at the mighty Wurlitzer giving Schubert’s “Serenade” and “Loin du Bae.” A Regent Review, comedy and a travelogue complete this excellent bilj.
