“N.Z. AWAITING MIGRANTS”
NEEDS OF DOMINIONS By Cable.—Press Association.—-Copyright LONDON, Monday. The Bishop of London, Dr. Winnington Ingram, in moving that the report of the Anglican Council of Empire Settlement be received, at the meeting of the Church Assembly, acknowledged the wonderful welcome he had received in the Dominions on his recent tour. 'The speaker emphasised the importance of sending out more British people to in order to prevent that Dominion being swamped by foreigners. He said a “White Australia” was not so much a policy as a passion. Australian Labour men declared they would not have poverty like that which existed in the East End of London, but a White Australia instead. Dr. Ingram said he also found New Zealand awaiting British people. It was pathetic to see good men unemployed when there were large areas wanting them. A. and N.Z.
