RETIREMENT OF LEAGUE CHAIRMAN REPORTED
Although no official statement has been made yet, it is freely rumoured that Mr. W. .j. Hammili, the popular
chairman of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Reague, has stated his intention of resigning his position, it is to be hoped that this is not the case, as Air. Hammill has been “the right man in the right place” in the League game in
Auckland. He lias done a tremendous amount of work for League football, and while his vigorous and progressive policy has inevitably been criticised at times on some points, there can be no gainsaying the fact that under liis guidance the code has made wonderful strides, and his retirement at the present juncture would.be a severe loss to the 13-a-side game.
