WANGANUI PROPOSAL
OLD MUSEUM AS PA MAORI CHIEFS MEET (Special to THE SUN.) WANGANUI, To-day. The ne w Alexander Museum is nearing completion. Wanganui Maori chiefs met at the old museum building and made a suggestion that the latter might be turned over to the Maori people for the purpose of constituting a model pa, with equipment distinctly representing the ancient pas in these parts. The scheme would include the erection of a pallisade constructed in oldtime manner and the building would be embellished with carvings, etc. The proposal is to be considered. With the reawakening to the importance of these matters on the part of the Maori people in this district, with such interest and enthusiasm being displayed by all hands, Wanganui may witness a development in Maori arts and crafts previously considered impossible of achievement.
