NZ. CONGRATULATES SISTER DOMINION
CANADA’S JUBILEE “DESTINIES INTERWOVEN” Press Association. WELLINGTON. Monday. The following message has been sent to the Governor-General of Canada by the Governor-General of New Zealand, Sir Charles Fergusson: “I beg to convey on behalf of the Government and people of New Zealand our cordial congratulations on the diamond jubilee which the Dominion of Canada is celebrating to-day, and to offer to our kinsjplk in the great sister Dominion of the British Empire our warmest good wishes for their continued prosperity and happiness.” At the request of the editor of ‘‘Maclean’s Magazine.” Toronto, the Prime Minister has forwarded the following message for publication in a special jubilee issue of that journal:"As our destinies are so interwoven it is natural that the diamond jubilee of the Dominion of Canada is an event of significance to the people, not only of that Dominion, but of her sister Dominions as well. “The thoughts of the citizens of ?Cew Zealand are unitedly with their fellow citizens in Canada on this occasion, and our very hearty greetings and congratulations are extended to the senior Dominion of the Empire. The period of 60 years now drawing to a close has witnessed amazing development of natural resources and the progress already achieved is a happy augury for the future. New Zealand is gratified to note evidences of Canada’s prosperity, and will welcome any arrangement for stimulation of trade between the two countries, recognising that the exchange of imports and exports is one of the principal factors contributing toward closer unity of the peoples of the great family of nations which comprises the British Commonwealth.”
