GARAGE GOSSIP
The truck business in Auckland received a visit during the week from Mr. Henry Spurrier, managing director of the Leyland Motors, Ltd., England, accompanied by Mr. D. F. Bauchop, manager of the New Zealand branch.
At present Mr. W. E. Bullock, construction engineer from the Singer Motor Company’s works, is making a tour of New Zealand.
He is the son of the managing director, Mr. W. E. Bullock. The object of his tour of Australia and New Zealand is to study conditions, and secure even closer co-operation between the company and its distributors. Mr. Bullock told “Chassis” that the conditions in New Zealand were well suited to the popular Singer cars, and he saw no reason for radical alterations. There was no need for any changes to meet the market here. The Singer Company would adhere to the old tradition of “quality, not price.”
Mr. Bullock was quite satisfied with the progress made in New Zealand with the sale of Singers. Undoubtedly there is a market in the Dominion for British cars, Singer particularly. The visitor has already driven over some of the bad hill roads in the South Island.
