CELEBRATIONS ENDED FUNERAL OF AIRMAN By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright OTTAWA, Monday. Ottawa’s celebrations of the diamond jubilee of the Dominion ended to-night with a carillon concert. The day had been devoted to thanksgiving and memorial services, at which addresses were delivered and songs commemorative of the pioneer fathers of the Confederation and those who fell in the war were sung.
An impressive ceremony marked the funeral of Lieutenant Johnson, the United States airman, who was killed yesterday when his plane crashed as a result of a collision with another machine in the escort to Captain Charles Lindbergh. The body of Lieutenant Johnson was placed on board a special train, over which Captain Lindbergh circled in his plane and dropped flowers. The remains are to be taken to Mount Clemens, Michigan, for interment. — A. and N.Z.
