Mr. A. G. MacDonald, of Auckland, is visiting Christchurch. p r . T. Parr arrived in Auckland by the Aorangi from Sydney this morning. Mr. H. E. Vaile and Mr. A. S. Brown went South by the Limited last evening. Mr. F. Bridgeman, who has been visiting Australia, returned this morning by the Aorangi. Colonel Knott, of the Salvation Army, arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning. Mr. E. Lichtenstein arrived in Auckland to-day from Sydney by the Aorangi. Mr. C. Gardner returned to Auckland by the Aorangi after a business trip to Sydney. Mr. J- M. Prentice, formerly announcer for IYA, left Auckland this morning for Rotorua. Mr. F. J. H. Nancarrow, a prominent member of the Wanganui Jockey Club, is at present in Auckland. Mr. Douglas Wylie, who has been on an exploration trip to North Queensland, returned to Auckland to-day by the Aorangi. Mr. R- W. Dalton, British Trade Commissioner for Australia, is a through passenger on the Aorangi on his way to England. The Minister of External Affairs, the Hon. W. Nosworthy, who has been on an official visit to Samoa, will return to Wellington to-morrow by the Marama. Professor J. Rankine Brown, of Victoria University College, has been honoured by the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, with the honorary degree of LL.D. Mr. A. St. Clair Brown, who has been on a lousiness trip to Sydney, returned to Auckland by the Aorangi this morning. Mrs. Brown is remaining in Sydney for a little longer. Mr. Charles Rhodes, who has been appointed district governor of the Rotary movement, was congratulated by members of the Auckland Club at to-day’s luncheon. Among the “birthday honours” celebrated at the Rotary Club to-day was that of the United States of America. Rotarian Boyle, the United States consul, replied. Mr. F. G. Good, New Zealand representative of the Canadian Government Merchant Marine, and Mr. W. M. Luke, the travelling agent for the same office, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington. The president of the Arbitration Court, Mr. Justice Frazer, and Mr. W. Scott, assessor for the employers on the court, are staying at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. J. B. Macßwan, of Wellington, who is leaving for Vancouver by the Aorangi to-morrow, is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. S. M. Neville, of Blenheim, and the Misses Neville, are to travel to Europe by the Aorangi to-morrow. At present Mr. Neville is at the Commercial Hotel. Messrs. A. D. Thomson, T. B. Strong, W. W. Bird. B. N. T. Blake. A. J. C. Hall, G. T. Palmer and D. D. Steadman are gazetted as the Appeal Board to hear appeals in connection with the grading of teachers in primary schools. His Honour Mr. Justice Reed leaves for Wellington this evening. He will be relieved at the Auckland Supreme Court by His Honour Mr. Justice Herdman, who has been taking the Hamilton sessions. Mr. Henry Mortimer, who toured New Zealand with the “Abie’s Irish Rose” Company, will be a passenger from Auckland by the Aorangi tomorrow. Mr. Mortimer will spend a few days in his native Canada before proceeding to New York. Coronet and Mrs. Gaskin, of the Salvation Army, are through passengers by the Aorangi, which arrived from Sydney to-day. Colonel Gaskin is chief secretary for the South Australian territory. Another Salvationist on the vessel was Staff-Captain Percival Dale, of Melbourne, who is a member of the army's architectural staff.
