ST. JOHN’S DAY SERVICE

ANNUAL COMMEMORATION ANCIENT ORDER OF CHIVALRY The annual service of the Order of St. John, and of the St- John Ambulance Association and Brigade was held in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Parnell, yesterday in commemoration of St. John’s Day. Archbishop Averill, Sub-Prelate of the Order of St. John, extolled in his address the services of the association. He pointed out that the work was founded on Christian motives and that was sufficient to transform commonplace drudgery Into a noble privilege. He exhorted the members of the association to remember their connection with the ancient order of chivalry and the claims of God as well as those of humanity. The offertory at the service will be devoted to the Opthalmic Hospital of the Order of St. John at Jerusalem.
