VETERAN FARMER DEAD
MR. FRANK HUBBARD The death has occurred of Mr. Frank Hubbard at the age of 78. Mr. Hubbard was born in Essex, England, and at the age of five arrived at Lyttelton with his parents. He was brought up as a farmer in Canterbury, and in 1883 came north, settling in the Whangamarino district. Nine years later he purchased a 16,000acre property at Moarangi, being the first settler there. In 1870 he married a Miss Mair, of Edinburgh, but she died four years later, leaving two sons. Mr. Hubbard, in 1875, married a daughter of Mr. W. Lancaster, of Liverpool, and for some time past had been living in retirement at Milford.
