WEDDING BELLS

LA TROBE—BIRD At St. John’s Church. Te Awamutu, on Wednesday, the wedding was solemnised of Miss Mary Isabelle Bird, eldest daughter of Mr. F, Bird, Paterangi, to Mr. James Selwyn La Trobe, youngest son of Mr. J. La Trobe, Te Kowhat. The Kev. S. Burrow was the officiating minister. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked winsome in a beautiful frock of champagne crepe de chine, trimmed with silver lace and flowers, and she wore a becoming duchess hat. She carried a bouquet of violets and maidenhair fern. Miss Edith Bird, sister of the bride, attended her sister as bridesmaid and wore a pretty frock of apricot crepe de chine inlet with tucked net and flowers and hat to match. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. F. Bird, brother of the bride. After the ceremony the bridal party adjourney to the residence of the bride s parents, where a reception was held and the usual toasts proposed and enthusiastically honoured. Mr and Mrs. La Trobe were the recipients of many valuable presents, including several cheques. During the afternoon the happy couple left by car for Te Aroha. the bride travelling in a bois de rose ensemble suit and soft felt hat, with lizard skin trimming. Mr. and Mrs. La Trobe are making their future home at Te Kowhai.
