In spite of the stormy night the ball was one of the most successful and enjoyable functions held in Papakura, about 240 guests being present. A charming scheme of decoration was carried out in the ballroom, where coloured streamers in blue and gold, the club’s colours, were looped round the walls and formed a canopy in the centre overhead. A most pleasing and unique effect was given by the coloured blue lights that were used in the different parts of the hall. The supper room was gaily decorated with masses of wattle, while spring flowers and beautiful large violets were used in profusion on the supper tables. The supper was a particularly dainty one and the lady members of the club are to be congratulated on the trouble taken with the supper arrangements. The committee responsible for organising the dance is Mesdames Elliott, Johnstone and Miss Harris, Messrs. Pavitt, Johnstone, Elliott and Tilston and the secretary, Mr. Jones. The M.C.’s, Messrs. W. A. Pavitt, E. Busing and J. Elliott, carried out their duties very capably.
