A CORRESPONDENT’S VIEWS “Rugbyite” writes: Mr. V. R. Meredith has selected the players to train for the match against the Maoris. Picking teams has been a keen pastime since Auckland v. Thames, and I would like to submit the following: Fullback, Butler; threequarters, Hook, Luca's, Ruru; five-eighths, Berridge, Meyer; half, McManus; rover, Keene; front row, Hadley, Palmer; second row, McWilliams, Righton, Knight; third row, Batty, Linton. This team as a final selection includes two players whom Mr. Meredith does not consider worthy to be among his eighteen selected —Butler and' Meyer. Lucas the writer places at centre threequarter, with his clubmate Hook on the wing. Butler in the position of fullback is the best in Auckland, a player with a safe pair of hands, a powerful kick with either foot, and a splendid tackier.
