COUNTER-PETITION
COMFORTING DOCUMENT Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. The Prime Minister, the Hon. J. G. Coates, has received the following message, signed by 150 adult male European residents at Apia: “Europeans disagree with preju* dice and tactics of Citizens’ Committee, strongly disapprove of their methods in causing disaffection among the natives, and have every confidence in impartial services and good judgment of Administrate r.” Mr. Coates states that the message came purely voluntarily, and added that the electoral roll last November showed 222 Europeans. The allegation that compulsion had been exercised to secure signatures to a petition had been officially denied.
