THE IMPOSSIBLE DOUBLE
Of seven horses claiming the dual engagement in the Grand National Hurdles and Steeplechase, no less than five hail from the Auckland Province. Those from this end now eligible to go for the big jumping double are Beau Cavalier, Wedding March, Royal Form, Kawini and Peter Maxwell. The other two are Crown Coin and Cartoon, representing Wanganui and Otago respectively. These seven have been entered in the hope—a vain one?— of accomplishing a feat that has never yet been recorded at Riccarton, that of winning both big jumping events.
